  1. The only answer to the pothole problem is for the road authorities to fix them as soon as they appear. Like Rust and Human Beings if small problems develop and remedial action is not taken quickly then they only get worse and never get better. Local authorities need to move from “planned maintenance” to an “regular inspection and repair as required” regime. Current technologies, in car cameras, GPS, and the Internet now make this a possibility and could save millions on maintenance costs.
